On-site Assessments & Therapy at the International School of Kuala Lumpur

The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) has onsite clinical psychologists through it's partnership with Share Resolve

The International School of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL) recognises that the COVID-19 pandemic is a challenge to the psychological well-being of students and staff. Consequently, they have invited Share Resolve’s psychologists to offer consultations on-site at the school.

How can Share Resolve’s Psychologists be of help?

Students, staff & teachers are all welcome to meet with our psychologists.

Share Resolve’s psychologist Dr. Hasse De Meyer will be at ISKL on Thursdays and Athena Siew will be at ISKL on Wednesdays. Share Resolve’s other psychologists are available for Zoom meetings.

Our psychologists offer talking therapy, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Learning Assessments. Learning assessments help us understand a student’s profile of strengths and difficulties so that teaching and support can be tailored to their specific needs. Learning Assessments can also be used to support exam accommodations such as extra time.

Fees & Insurance Coverage

Share Resolve uses an online invoicing system which allows you to pay via debit card, credit card or bank transfer.

ISKL’s staff and teachers are covered by Cigna insurance. Share Resolve is a panel provider for Cigna which means we can directly bill Cigna for your sessions. If you are covered by Cigna you should not need to make any payments to us.

We are also a panel provider for International SOS. Other insurers require that you pay upfront and then claim back the fees. We have a page on our website explaining more about insurance and how you can make claims if you have coverage for psychological interventions.

Confidentiality

Everything that you say to your psychologist is entirely confidential. We will never reveal what we have discussed to anyone else unless we have your permission. The only exception to this is if we think you or someone else is about to get seriously hurt. We would then try to make contact with someone who would be able to keep you or the other person safe. Even in this situation we would make every effort to tell you what we are going to do, explain why and discuss the best way of keeping you safe while preserving your privacy.

Share Resolve’s approach to confidentiality and ethical issues is based on recommendations by the British Psychological Society. You can find out more on this page of our website.

We encourage students to allow us to share information with parents and teachers so that we can provide the best support for them. However, students usually need to know that what they are saying is confidential to allow them to open up to the psychologist.

Working in partnership with ISKL’s teachers

One of the advantages of our psychologists working onsite at ISKL is that they can liaise with teachers to help develop the very best system of support for each student that they have contact with.

However, as described in our confidentiality statement above, we would only do this if we have a students permission to do so or we were worried about risk.

To avoid disrupting teaching at ISKL we will only book an appointment at the same time as a student is meant to be attending class in exceptional circumstances.

Where is Share Resolve’s Office in ISKL?

Share Resolve’s Office at the school is located on the 3rd floor directly across from Wing 2 of the High School. The door is between the HS band room entrance and the Praxis Team Room. ‘Share Resolve Office’ is written on the door.
